Happy Autumn!

Written by:  Jayne Caldwell

Isn’t it a fact that when we see changes in space we may also start to see changes on Earth?

A U T U M N, a new season, can be a time for change and for letting go (hey, why not)?  Well, I was thinking about our emotions in this case ("What?  Autumn and emotions"?  OK, I hear you, really obvious connection, right?! Well it may all become clear, I hope!).  You see, the thing with emotions is that they all serve a purpose, even the negative ones.  Anger, for instance, can serve to help us stand up for ourselves, or what we believe in, in the face of injustice etc.  Sadness can be a huge comfort in times of loss (perhaps due to the release of happy chemicals in the brain - don't you just love nature!).  The problem lies though, when we 'hold on' to feelings that, whilst once served a purpose at a particular moment, no longer do (and that can give us huge problems physically too, especially when the emotions are deeply suppressed.  It's a scientific fact now that a significant amount of pains in the body stem from unresolved 'emotional' issues, but that's another discussion... I use EFT & NLP techniques to help in these instances, fantastic tools *).

Anyway, if we get out of nature's way, these waves of emotions can be used as and when needed and then can pass through us, if we just let go.  In any given moment we can listen to our feelings and realise if they are a signal to act in that moment.  We can ‘act’ or ‘accept’, whatever is happening in that moment, let the emotion run it's natural course, to help us and then let it go, if that's what's needed...  Just as leaves fall from trees, once so very useful for the tree but no longer, it's the same with emotions.  How about imagining letting go of any unwanted emotions now that, as with leaves once serving the tree, the emotions once served you, but no longer do.. Let go, just like a leaf falling from a tree.  Let go, let go, let go!!!!!!

AUTUMN & ‘Symbiotic’ Relationships

Autumn is normally connected to a time where old things die off, however, there is an organism that thrives at this time of year.  The following was taken from a recent article in one of our local magazines, here in the North East of England, called the ‘Northumbrian’.  The article was written by Anthony Joisce, the following is ‘part’ of his article.

“At this time of year, the many fungi that we see provide a lifeline for plants, living amongst tree roots, passing on vital nutrients to these other organisms. Many species live in this give-and-take relationship, relying on other plants for survival but not causing any damage (incidentally, fungi often grows in circles and when fruiting bodies appear, the effect can seem a little magical).

This ‘give-and-take’ reliance  is known as a ‘symbiotic’ relationship, where both parties rely on each other for survival.

Wikipedia (online Encyclopedia), about Symbiosis, states:-
“While historically, symbiosis has received less attention than other interactions such as predation or competition, it is increasingly recognized as an important selective force behind evolution, with many species having a long history of interdependent co-evolution.  The biologist Lynn Margulis, famous for her work on endosymbiosis, contends that symbiosis is a major driving force behind evolution. She considers Darwin's notion of evolution, driven by competition, to be incomplete and claims that:
Evolution is strongly based on co-operation, interaction, and mutual dependence among organisms. And, according to Margulis and Dorion Sagan,
"Life did not take over the globe by combat, but by networking."
So, to summarise, it seems, nature may be optimised with co-operation, interaction and mutual ‘dependence’.  Maybe we depend on each other more than we realise.  In the past, in western society, and still seen in Eastern world, our lives were lived as ‘tribes’ or ‘communities’, interacting, co-operating, ‘give-and-take’.  People seem happier that way, don’t you think?  But, in western world, since the age of ‘individualism’ there has seemed to have been something a miss, I feel.

Now, however, it seems ‘networking’ is now back on the agenda (woo hoo).  Yes, networking is back on the agenda and guess what, it's in the form of the internet - of all things. Nature works in mysterious (and often ironic) ways, don’t you think?!!! :O)

So, lets network away and connect as much as possible to like people, lets grow our new virtual community spirit and speak and take action for things that we believe in, together, as a community....  A "World Wide Web" of a community.  Bring on the virtual revolution!  And (as someone once wrote):  “Be The Change You Want To See In The World”.
